A Path to Sankalpa
a path to sankalpa
A five-module initiatory journey into recognition, calibration, and embodied alignment
Years ago, I offered A Path to Sankalpa as a mentorship.
The terrain was already alive in me then, especially after the recognition of my fundamental nature. That recognition marked a turning point. It opened the path and gave me the ground from which this body of work first began to emerge.
And still, something in this teaching remained incomplete.
It did not leave me alone.
The material kept asking to be brought forward. It continued to move, to deepen, to refine through lived experience. This self-paced course is the more mature articulation of that path.
It comes through years of direct experience with the phases of Sankalpa: longing, desire, identity, contrast, recognition, word, calibration, and lived expression.
And even as I brought this course into form, the process continued to work on me.
I thought the recognition of I AM was the rite of passage that made this course possible.
And it was. Yet guiding this material revealed another threshold.
As I led the first group through the course, I reached the end of my strategy with word itself — the need to script, prepare, and secure the transmission through language.
Meeting that directly brought a deeper layer into awareness.
Word became clear as the naming of frequency. As the placement of a quality of consciousness within the human system.
In that way, the course completed itself through the same living process it teaches. Perhaps that is part of what happens when a word becomes the name of a school.
It begins to ask for full calibration.
I AM was conscious.
Sankalpa was alive in the teaching, the practice, and the field of the school. And still, the word itself had not yet become fully calibrated in me. It was asking to be known as lived understanding.
WHAT THIS COURSE IS
Sankalpa, at depth, is not simply a phrase. It is a structuring movement of consciousness. A quality that becomes known, given placement through word, and brought into coherence through the body, the mind, and the field of life.
This course follows that movement.
It begins with contact.
With sensation.
With the body.
With what is actually present.
From there, the path unfolds. What is speaking becomes clearer. What is held in identity begins to reveal itself. What carries charge comes into contact.
What is true becomes distinguishable from what is shaped by pattern, protection, or conditioning.
Over time, recognized truth stabilizes within the system. Sankalpa shifts from something spoken. Into something lived.
This course offers a way of moving through that terrain. Consciously.
A lived path.
THE 5 module Arc
Module 1 — Orientation
We establish the terrain and restore right relationship to the work. Attention returns to the body, to contact, and to the capacity to remain.
Module 2 — Developmental Sankalpa and the Layered Field of Identity
We begin discerning what is speaking. Sankalpa is explored through desire, emotional need, subconscious agreements, loyalty, and the layered voice of “I.”
Module 3 — The Inner Descent
We enter the body as the lived field of incarnation. Sensation becomes the bridge between insight and realization. The capacity to remain with direct experience is strengthened.
Module 4 — Sacred Contrast
What is true enough is brought near. What has not yet come into coherence begins to answer. Contrast reveals hidden order, fear, vow, and loyalty shaping the field beneath conscious awareness.
Module 5 — Sacred Calibration
When a quality of consciousness has been recognized, word gives it placement. Sankalpa becomes a path of calibration, bringing the nested bodies and human life into coherence with what is known.
Who This Is For
This work meets those who sense that Sankalpa carries depth beyond how it is commonly approached.
It is for those who want to understand what is actually speaking within them. For those willing to move through sensation, contrast, and identity with honesty. For those who feel the pull toward something more precise, more lived, more real.
It is also for sincere seekers who may have set Sankalpa aside because it seemed to belong to desire, attachment, or identity. This course explores Sankalpa in a deeper way — where the doorway to recognizing the Self may appear where it was not expected.
The Path Continues
This course offers a path.
A lived path through the terrain of Sankalpa as it became conscious through direct experience.
You meet it exactly where you are.
From there, the work of consciousness living in form continues.
“The journey through this course was such an alive unfolding. Many moments I was so surprised, or perhaps even confused, by what was revealing itself, yet with Tanis’ steady and precise guidance, I was able to stay with it all until something more clear unfolded.
As someone who has worked with Sankalpa in a very precise way over the years, I can’t imagine arriving at the Sankalpa that revealed itself to me any other way. It wasn’t even in my field of awareness, yet as it was discovered and unearthed, it was the most true and clear expression I had ever met. ”
“It has been life-changing for me to have discovered the Calgary-based School of Sankalpa founded by Tanis Fishman. Tanis is clearly operating in whole-hearted mystic mode as she continues to creatively offer Yoga Nidra training in ways that help students break through the invisible ceilings holding them back from entering into authentic teaching and most importantly authentic living. Tanis and her co-teachers clearly pay close attention to what to improve upon with each training they do, so the teaching format is kept fresh and alive in its organic adaptions to the changing and growing needs of the flow of participants.
The teachings provided in the trainings are well-based on the teachers’ experiential knowledge of Yoga Nidra, all of which has been meticulously translated into information-packed modules. Most impressive is the exceptional learning environment that is set up in the trainings. Research shows that the brain is able to absorb information better in fun environments; the high amount of laughter naturally bubbling up throughout each training day is a clear indicator that the SOS has nailed the art of providing conducive, effective learning environments.
Having attended the 60 hour teacher training and recently the 40 hour advanced training, I find myself with a thorough, hands-on understanding of the workings of Yoga Nidra. In looking back it was like I had been lovingly held by the the teachers and participants as I entered into a profound comprehensive transmission of this ancient practice.
One of the biggest gifts though is the insight I now have into the cutting edge of my personal development. The individual feedback I received in each training about my strengths and limitations as a communicator has likely saved me years of fumbling around bumping up against unseen blindspots. Note this training may not be for the faint of heart as you will be challenged to look at the shadow sides of your engagement with teaching specifically — and with life in general — in order to be able to grow beyond the shackles of old patterns. This can feel uncomfortable at times however provides a rare opportunity for efficient personal and spiritual growth. And, such growth is perfectly aligned with the overall aim of Yoga Nidra: becoming a more conscious being in all aspects of one’s existence.
I cannot wait to see what else this school offers in the year ahead.””
