Inward Path

~ The inward path ~

An Exploration of Yoga Nidra

At the point of sleep when sleep has not yet come and external wakefulness vanishes, at this point being is revealed. - Vigyana Bhairava Tantra

A Self-Paced 7 week online Course that begins moment of purchase

Welcome to the Inward Path, a deep exploration of the framework of Yoga Nidra and a rich unpacking of the stages through direct experiencing and guided contemplation.

If you have been guided to my recordings and guidance, I invite you to sit with me as we journey through the inward path together.

The Inward path is the inward movement of attention through the many veils that nest the unconditioned Self (or non-self). Each veil is worthy of exploration as it reflects the range of human experience from density to subtlety and eventually to transcendental identity.

Each module is focused on a veil, also known as a Kosha, and the techniques used in the Yoga Nidra practice to experience that level of our being. I guide and explore the inner terrain with curiosity, sharing the depth and multiple lenses through which I have experienced these over the years.

I have been highly influenced by the Bihar School of Yoga and the Satyananda Lineage as this was my origin point into Yoga Nidra; However, I am a Mystic at heart, and naturally explore many doorways, paths, lineages, and spiritual traditions that point to Oneness. Therefore, my sharing and guidance are steeped with years and possibly lifetimes of spiritual knowledge and remembering.

This is not a training, it is an exploration and deeper study of the yoga nidra practice. I believe Yoga Teachers and Guides, and sincere practitioners will find value in these teachings and perhaps inspire the next level of studentship on their path.

Some basic understanding of yoga or the meditative arts would be helpful as I communicate the teachings through this lens.

My sincere and heartfelt thank you for joining me on this journey on the Inward Path, a journey through our multidimensional construct, to arrive at the source from which experience is birthed.

The modules include:

  • Module 1: Intention Setting practice. Discussion and practice on the internalization of awareness and the entry points through perception shifting to begin the inward path to Self-Realization.

  • Module 2: Sankalpa. Discussion and practice on the Divine thought form that will unpack itself to manifest on every level of Creation.

  • Module 3: Discussion and practice of the original teachings of the trademark practice of rotation of consciousness from the angle of its more spiritual roots of Nyasa Yoga - meaning ‘to place, to put in’ the awareness, or a mantra, or a sacred form to raise the body’s vibration and consecrate the body to the Divine.

  • Module 4: Discussion and practice on using breath awareness and breath techniques as a vehicle to reach the vital body, the energy field inside and around the mortal body.

  • Module 5: Discussion and practice on embracing the realm of duality in order to transcend the suffering of a separated mind.

  • Module 6: Discussion and practice on utilizing the mind power for creativity and unlocking the dormant energies of creation; as well as, purging the deeper mind of the storehouse of associated images that distort one’s ability to abide in clarity.

  • Module 7: Discussion and practice of the final destination of the Inward Path ~ Pure Unconditioned Awareness. The arrival of the Inward Path is the completion of the yoga nidra practice; However, it sets one on the outward path and the re-engagement into the external world equipped with true Self-Knowledge of one’s pure beingness expressing itself through the multidimensional construct of the mind and body.

  • Each module includes a discussion followed by a full length practice.

The exploration is self paced and a module is released each week.

Many Blessings on your Inward Path.

Wow Tanis, The Inward Path. Wow.

Thank you for making this available online - I am deeply appreciative.

I have moved through the seven weeks’ of teachings and I intend on revisiting each lecture again.

Countless a-ha moments have made their way into my sphere and there are many moments that still have me puzzled in the most beautiful ways.

The teachings you share are truly phenomenal. To sit with someone of your calibre, commitment and integrity is something else”.

It has been life-changing for me to have discovered the Calgary-based School of Sankalpa founded by Tanis Fishman. Tanis is clearly operating in whole-hearted mystic mode as she continues to creatively offer Yoga Nidra training in ways that help students break through the invisible ceilings holding them back from entering into authentic teaching and most importantly authentic living. Tanis and her co-teachers clearly pay close attention to what to improve upon with each training they do, so the teaching format is kept fresh and alive in its organic adaptions to the changing and growing needs of the flow of participants.

The teachings provided in the trainings are well-based on the teachers’ experiential knowledge of Yoga Nidra, all of which has been meticulously translated into information-packed modules. Most impressive is the exceptional learning environment that is set up in the trainings. Research shows that the brain is able to absorb information better in fun environments; the high amount of laughter naturally bubbling up throughout each training day is a clear indicator that the SOS has nailed the art of providing conducive, effective learning environments.

Having attended the 60 hour teacher training and recently the 40 hour advanced training, I find myself with a thorough, hands-on understanding of the workings of Yoga Nidra. In looking back it was like I had been lovingly held by the the teachers and participants as I entered into a profound comprehensive transmission of this ancient practice.

One of the biggest gifts though is the insight I now have into the cutting edge of my personal development. The individual feedback I received in each training about my strengths and limitations as a communicator has likely saved me years of fumbling around bumping up against unseen blindspots. Note this training may not be for the faint of heart as you will be challenged to look at the shadow sides of your engagement with teaching specifically — and with life in general — in order to be able to grow beyond the shackles of old patterns. This can feel uncomfortable at times however provides a rare opportunity for efficient personal and spiritual growth. And, such growth is perfectly aligned with the overall aim of Yoga Nidra: becoming a more conscious being in all aspects of one’s existence.

I cannot wait to see what else this school offers in the year ahead.”
